Two tower blocks planned for Purley Way

Two residential blocks comprised of 116 flats could be coming to Purley Way.

Designs, submitted by Stonegate Homes, show the towers replacing Natuzzi Italia and Halfords, which will be demolished if the plans are approved.

As well as residential units, the plans include a ground floor co-working space that will connect the two blocks, and space for 62 vehicles.

The application states: “Stonegate Homes and the design team have sought to optimise the potential of the site through extensive positive engagement and high-quality design.

“A process of engagement that has spanned over a two-year period and has included careful site analysis, testing, independent review, positive engagement with council officers, ward members and councillors.

“This proposal replaces existing commercial premises with a mixed-use residential building that responds sensitively to the character of the local context and the latest proposals for us and scale set out in the council backed master plan for Purley Way.”

Croydon Council will make the final decision on the proposal.
