Plans to build 247 homes in Purley have been submitted to Croydon Council by Regent Land.

The proposal, made in partnership with V Fund and RAA Development Group, seeks permission to build the homes in four mansion blocks between 26-52 Whytecliffe Road South.

Of the 247 homes, 30% will be affordable.

Commenting on the application, the developers said they aspire to “set a high standard for residential developments in and around Purley”, with the scheme marking the gateway to the district centre.

Designed in response to analysis of the site and local context, the proposals take into account the character of the area and will deliver high-quality buildings and homes.

The proposals, which have already gone through extensive pre-application discussions with Croydon Council, the Greater London Authority, residents and local businesses, will transform the site into high-quality modern development designed to make best use of the space available.

Regent say the scheme will also enhance the look and feel of the road, as well as Purley as a whole, providing an improved public realm, enriched public square and upgraded car park to serve Purley Train Station – with enhanced security, a new layout and a future-proof design.

The architectural design of the buildings will take into account the scale and nature of adjacent buildings, with the lower elements along the street and on the north-east corner, and the taller elements adjacent to the railway tracks. The appearance and materials used in the development relate to significant buildings nearby, in the heart of Purley town centre.

Formation Architects are the scheme architects, while KG Creative Consultancy are planning consultants for the project.
