The Mayor of Croydon has set out a bold vision for the borough’s future as part of the newly unveiled London Growth Plan, highlighting how it will bring jobs, homes, and investment to local people.

In an exclusive interview with Develop Croydon, Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon, outlined how the ambitious strategy—designed to drive £107bn in economic growth and create 150,000 jobs across London by 2028—will transform Croydon’s high streets, businesses, and communities. From upskilling the workforce to revitalising public spaces, he has made it clear that this is about delivering real, tangible benefits for the people who work and live in Croydon.

Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon, says,

“The whole growth plan is focused on our residents. This is about our residents at the end of the day and having that regeneration. This will bring forward homes. It will bring forward public spaces. It will bring forward retail. It will bring forward destination.”

The new London Growth Plan outlines London’s ambition to become a more prosperous, fairer, and greener global city. The actions that will be taken to achieve this include:

• Supporting businesses by harnessing the growth potential of cutting-edge sectors such as AI, life sciences, robotics, and clean technology
• Building skills for the future—an upcoming Inclusive Talent Strategy will improve Londoners’ skills and help everyone secure meaningful employment and advance their careers
• Improving affordable housing and infrastructure—with significant transport upgrades and the introduction of new rent-controlled Key Worker homes
• Helping local high streets thrive—through a £21 million boost to local high streets this year, addressing empty properties, and ensuring that all London boroughs benefit from economic growth.
