Large-scale public art trail in Croydon seeking artist submissions

Croydon Business Improvement District (BID), in collaboration with creative producers Wild in Art, are asking artists to submit designs for Croydon Stands Tall – a large-scale public art event, coming to Croydon in autumn 2023.

The trail, which will raise funds for charity partner Crisis, is on the look-out for submissions from new and established artists, that will transform blank giraffe sculptures with individual artworks.

The event will feature more than 30 eight-foot-tall giraffe sculptures, forming a free, 10-week art trail of discovery for local people and visitors of all ages to explore and enjoy.

Each sculpture will be sponsored by local businesses, community groups and education organisations and will be displayed in locations across Croydon town centre, where visitors can use a bespoke map and mobile app to help them navigate the trail, discover new places and unlock exciting rewards and discounts provided by sponsors.

Following a farewell weekend where they will be shown together, the giraffe sculptures will be auctioned at a special event to raise funds that will support our charity partner, Crisis – a national charity working locally to end homelessness on our streets.
