Croydon Council has launched a new service to support developers and reduce the impact of construction and infrastructure works on the borough’s communities.

The Infrastructure Coordination Service, which is part of the Greater London Authority’s wider Infrastructure initiative, sees the placement of an in-house Infrastructure Coordinator who works closely with developers to help design, manage, and deliver their projects – ensuring they stitch neatly into local infrastructure networks, reduce timeframes and limit disruption – with the aim of decreasing the costs and risks associated with utilities and the wider infrastructure needed for development.

The service offers a Pre-Planning Support Service, which covers RIBA stages 1-3, while Croydon Council also offers a Delivery Support Service covering RIBA stages 4-6. Developers who use the service will benefit from the coordinator’s local knowledge and network to effectively navigate the planning stages. It will also provide a key channel of communication between all infrastructure stakeholders from start to finish.
