Construction underway on Optivo developments

Optivo is leading on two new housing schemes in Croydon, which will deliver affordable housing to the borough.

The first is for 40 new units on Willett Road, Thornton Heath. The £15million development is due to complete in spring 2024.

The second development is a £10.4m scheme on Biddulph Road, South Croydon, creating 26 new homes for London Affordable Rent. Construction began in November 2021 and is scheduled to complete in October 2023.

Ian Hagger, Director of Land and New Business at Optivo, said: “We’ve a proud history of delivering high quality homes to Croydon and we’re excited to have started construction on two sites within the borough, just weeks apart.

“At Optivo, we pride ourselves on building thriving, sustainable neighbourhoods with an inclusive mix of tenures. We’re looking forward to providing even more local residents with a fantastic place to live and continuing to do our bit to tackle the housing crisis.”

The Thornton Heath development was previously occupied by commercial properties for motor mechanics and repairs. The new units will be comprised of one, two and three-bedroom flats, including some wheelchair accessible homes.

The scheme will form part of the wider regeneration of Thornton Heath, including landscaping, a wildflower meadow, shrub beds, trees, and quality public furniture. A new pedestrian and cycle route will also be created between Grove Road and Willet Road.

The South Croydon development will be made up of one, two, three and four-bedroom flats, including private and communal spaces. The building will blend with the local area and include cycle storage.

Promo Construction Management Ltd has been contracted for the work.
