£1m in government support for cultural organisations

More than £1million in grant funding has been awarded to Croydon organisations as part of the government’s Culture Recovery Fund.

The money, awarded to 12 organisations across the borough, provides financial support for theatres, galleries, performance groups, venues and arts organisations through the COVID-19 pandemic, helping them through the lockdowns and restrictions to reopen when they are able to again. Croydon received £1,178,530 overall.

Around 2,700 organisations are benefitting from the fund across the county. Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden, said: “Our record-breaking Culture Recovery Fund has already helped thousands of culture and heritage organisations across the country survive the biggest crisis they’ve ever faced.

“Now we’re staying by their side as they prepare to welcome the public back through their doors – helping our cultural gems plan for reopening and thrive in the better times ahead.”
